Taher Diab, Sr. Director – Strategy & Planning, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy
Mr. Diab is the Strategy & Planning Director at Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Secretary General of the Emirates Energy Award. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of New Orleans (1989), graduate of the Hazardous Waste Institute at the University of Louisville (1992) and an IRCA Quality Lead Assessor certification. His career expands over 25 years of diversified experience in Business Planning, Strategy Development, Corporate Governance, Sustainability and HSE & Quality Management Systems. He worked with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, ADNOC Group (UAE) and Qatar Petrochemical Company before joining the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy in April 2011. Taher is actively involved in strategic development of diversified energy sources, demand & supply management in Dubai and devising work plans for achieving the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030.

Dr. Amyn Dahya is a Chemical Engineer holding a First Class Honors degree from Aston University in Birmingham, UK. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario and New Brunswick, Canada. Dr. Dahya is a specialist in technology development, design, engineering, construction and plant operation in the waste management, environmental protection and mineral processing industries. Dr. Dahya has worked in the environmental and waste management industries globally for the past thirty-four years in places ranging from Canada, USA, and Western Europe to the Middle East and Asia. He has led the development and commercialization of state-of-the-art processes for water purification, wastewater treatment, hazardous waste management, and recovery/recycle of valuable resources from wastes. He has also developed strategic best practices for Integrated Waste Management (IWM), providing holistic operating solutions for industries from a technical, management and financial perspective.
Dr. Dahya holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of GEMS – UtilEco Group, a global enterprise with leading edge solutions for rapidly evolving industries and regulatory frameworks. Under his stewardship, GEMS was the recipient of the prestigious Energy Globe Award 2013 for Saudi Arabia. Dr. Dahya is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Environmental Technology Management Association of Saudi Arabia.

Mhairi is a Counsel in the energy team of international law firm, Ashurst. Specialising in corporate and commercial aspects of energy and infrastructure projects, Mhairi has a focus on power and water projects. Mhairi is the Vice Chair of the Clean Energy Business Council and has a particular interest in renewable energy, advising on solar, wind and waste-to-energy projects. She is currently advising or has recently advised on solar projects in Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the UAE, a wind project in Jordan and a waste to energy project in Kuwait. Based in the Middle East since 2001 Mhairi has extensive experience in MENA projects, including a secondment at a leading power developer and is recognised as one of six leading UAE based international lawyers by MEED. Previously Mhairi was based in Brussels & Strasbourg as an adviser on the Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament.
Mr. S Madhumohan, Director of Waste Management, Dulsco
A Chemical engineer from The National Institute Of Technology, Tiruchirapalli and a post graduate in Industrial Management from The Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, Mr. Madhumohan has over 30 years experience in environmental, recycling and waste management activities in both India and Middle East markets. He has coordinated and executed various pioneering recycling projects and consultancy and was one of the pioneers in developing waste paper recycling and deinking projects in India and bringing these technologies to the country. Mr. Madhumohan was instrumental in the clean up of over 40000 cum of sludge at ADNOC Abu Dhabi and is a recipient of an environmental award from ADNOC for his role in executing a Bioremediation project for oily sludge, bringing in TERI and the Indian Oil corporation R&D division to this market. Currently heading the Waste Management operations of Dulsco at Dubai, he has been passionately working on various initiatives in waste management including recycling, waste reduction, waste recovery, waste to energy, and medical waste management and is involved in various initiatives by the municipality and other agencies in addressing these in the UAE and other markets serviced by Dulsco.
Jennifer Moore, Associate, Ashurst
Jennifer is an associate at international law firm Ashurst based in the Dubai office where she is a member of the energy, resources and infrastructure team. Jennifer has extensive experience of advising governments and commercial clients in the procurement of large transport, infrastructure and renewable projects throughout the MENA region at all stages of the procurement process from inception and feasibility stages to contract signing. She is currently advising the Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (formerly the Partnerships Technical Bureau of the State of Kuwait, PTB) in relation to the procurement of the Kabd Municipal Solid Waste PPP in Kuwait.
Anita Nouri, Partner & Business Dvelopment Director, Green Energy Solutions & Sustainability
Anita Nouri is a Partner and Business Development Director of Green Energy Solutions & Sustainability (GESS) a Dubai based company targeting landfills and environmental solutions in the MENA region. DESS undertook the development of the UNFCCC registered large scale CDM Al Qusais Landfull Gas Project from inception to power generation which is currently under the jurisdiction of the Dubai Municipality. Al Qusais is currently the only landfill in the Middle East to produce power from landfill gas with GESS being awarded ‘Green initiative of the Year 2014’ by Big Project ME for the development. Anita studied at Ryerson University in Canada and was previously CEO and Managing Director of AZN Construction before moving to the UAE with her husband and two children in 2008.
Mohammed Nayeem Quraishi, Managing Director Technical Projects, Bee’ah
Mohammed Nayeem Quraishi is an engineer with nearly forty years experience in the energy and desalination industry. As the Managing Director of Technical Projects he is responsible for managing all the technical, procurement, construction and operational aspects of the venture. He is also responsible for technical aspects of various projects under development at Bee’ah, including solar energy and Bee’ah’s master plan development. A graduate in engineering with honours from the prestigious JN Technological University, India, he has spent most of his professional life in utility projects development – from concept to realisation. After graduation he was selected by Tata Consulting Engineers as a team member for India’s first 500MW unit at Trombay. In 1981 he joined the Ministry of Electricity and Water UAE and held a number of executive positions with them before he was appointed as the Executive Chief Engineer with the UAE’s Federal Electricity and Water Authority. During his service with UAE federal authorities, Mr Quraishi was responsible for engineering, contract negotiations, construction management and successful completion of several power and desalination plants worth more than USD 1.2 billion. He has received several commendations for his professional achievements and has an extensive working relationship with industry giants such as GE, Siemens, EGT, Alstom, Areva, ABB, SGB, NE, Sidem and Sasakura. Prior to joining Bee’ah, in 2013, he has served as Technical Adviser to the Government of Ajman, as well being a promoter and developer for conventional and renewable energy plants in African countries.
