Neo Solar buys into Phanes, 800 MW of PV projects globally

October 5 (SeeNews) – In line with its downstream development strategy, Taiwanese firm Neo Solar Power Corp (TPE:3576), or NSP, has acquired a 30% equity interest in Swiss-Emirati renewables developer Phanes Group and consequently 800 MW of projects.

Through this move, the solar cell maker will join a number of photovoltaic (PV) schemes throughout Western Europe, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, it said. Neo Solar estimates that the construction of roughly half of the capacity will kick off within a year.    Read more

DEWA chooses ACWA Power for Hassyan

ACWA Power and Harbin Electric consortium as the Preferred Bidder for the first phase of the 1,200 MW Hassyan Clean Coal Power Project with Alstom as lead contractor.

The consortium bid a Levelised Cost of Electricity (LCOE) of 4.501 cents/KWh based on May 2015 coal prices.

“The Hassyan clean-coal power plant will use the best available technologies and the highest global standards in this field. It will use the Ultra-supercritical (USC) technology to reduce any negative impact on the environment,” Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA. Read more

ENGIE and SUEZ sign Kingdom City MoU

ENGIE and SUEZ have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jeddah Economic Company (JEC) to work together to provide key services and power to the Kingdom City project in Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom City project will host both commercial and residential developments, including among others, homes, hotels and offices. The centrepiece of this project will be the Kingdom Tower, which is planned to be the tallest tower in the world. Read more
